Caitlin Schmitt, RN (she/her/hers)
Registered Nurse
With nearly a decade of nursing experience, I bring a strong clinical background and a deep passion for mental health care to my work. I have been a registered nurse for nine years, with 11 years of experience in the emergency department, where I have cared for individuals across the lifespan facing a wide range of acute and chronic mental health conditions. These experiences have shaped my commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care in every interaction.
In my role at Magnolia Connection, I support our nurse practitioners in delivering high-quality care and help ensure a seamless clinical experience for our patients. I also oversee the Spravato program, including coordination and administration, where I prioritize safety, comfort, and close monitoring throughout the treatment process. I strive to support patients with empathy and respect during some of their most vulnerable moments, creating a space where they feel safe, heard, and understood.
Throughout my career, I have developed strengths in therapeutic communication, crisis intervention, and de-escalation. As a dedicated mental health advocate, I feel honored to walk alongside individuals on their journey, helping them grow and celebrating their progress along the way.
I earned my Associate Degree in Nursing from DMACC and my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Iowa State University. As a lifelong resident of the Des Moines area, it is especially meaningful for me to serve and support the community I call home.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, as well as with my dachshund, Winston. I love traveling and exploring new places, being outdoors, attending concerts, puzzling, crafting, and cheering on the Iowa State Cyclones.
I joined Magnolia Connection in February 2026 and provide services at our Ames location.
